I was born in June of 1970 in Fullerton, California; the youngest of three children.  I have lived in Orange County most of my life, except for a short stint as a teenager when I went to live with my relatives while my parents were divorcing. I was active in sports growing up and played baseball, basketball, soccer and wrestled in high school.   My first jobs were in the auto industry, as a lot porter and eventually a car salesman.  After I got out of high school I had a few friends who had been trying to share Christ with me. After visiting a couple different churches I had a friend invite me to watch her be baptized. I went and learned something that day, about a month later I sat down with the pastor and came to know what it meant to have a personal relationship with Christ. That started this adventure that I am on today. After I made the decision to return to school to pursue a degree in ministry, I worked many various temporary jobs to try to make ends meet.  Later, professional ministry took up much of my time, leaving very little for personal pursuits such as dating.

In 2003 my beautiful wife Kendra came into my life. Through some unusual circumstances she came to NOCC to be our keyboard player.  After a few interactions at church I decided I wanted to ask her out, so I used my best Christian pick up line and said, “Hey, maybe you could tell me about your mission trip over coffee some time.”  As cheesy as it was, it worked. We went out to lunch one day after church and we just clicked, didn’t really talk about the mission trip, but tons of other stuff. We dated for about 4 months and I knew after waiting 33 years for God to bring the right woman into my life I needed to make sure I didn’t let her go. I asked her to marry me and in June of 2004 we were married.

Kendra grew up traveling all over the country with her family, who worked in construction.  Her junior year in high school the family settled in Ventura County and stayed there for many years.   She has played piano for most of her life, in bands, for community theatre, and for church.  After coming to NOCC to be the main keyboard player, she began working in the office and became the assistant administrator of the church.

We like to take short trips together to Big Bear, San Diego, Palm Springs, or just to the swap meet or a mall for the day.  We have 3 cats that provide endless entertainment at home.  Kendra spends time at Disneyland regularly, while Fred likes to go fishing.  Kendra reads and crochets for fun and Fred messes around with car audio and video games, when there is time.  We recently purchased some bikes so we can ride around the parks in our area and enjoy the beautiful Southern California weather.  In February of 2007 we were thrilled and honored to become god-parents to Mika, our worship leader’s daughter.
